The Good King
02:51
|
|||
Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gath'ring winter fuel
"Hither, page, and stand by me
If thou know'st it, telling
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence
Underneath the mountain
Right against the forest fence
By Saint Agnes' fountain."
"Bring me flesh and bring me wine
Bring me pine logs hither
Thou and I will see him dine
When we bear him thither."
Page and monarch forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather
"Sire, the night is darker now
And the wind blows stronger
Fails my heart, I know not how,
I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, my good page
Tread thou in them boldly
Thou shalt find the winter's rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly."
In his master's steps he trod
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the Saint had printed
Therefore, Christian men, be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye who now will bless the poor
Shall yourselves find blessing

Liquor Store Christmas
03:56
|
|||
Going to the liquor store (liquor store)
The liquor store tonight
But it don't feel right
Cause you're not there
Going to the liquor store (liquor store)
Christmas night (Christmas night)
But it don't feel right
Cause you're not there
Should I get the cider? Should I get the wine?
When it was all of us together I never had to make up my mind
But now I'm standing in line
And I just can't decide
I would get the brewskies
I would get the rum
You would dip into our alcohol after yours was done
All this leftover bourbon
But it's not any fun
It's Christmas time (It's Christmas time)
Time for snow and Christmas lights (Christmas lights)
And to be with the ones you love
But without you it doesn't feel like Christmas
Going to the liquor store (liquor store)
The liquor store tonight
But it don't feel right
Cause you're not there
Going to the liquor store (liquor store)
Christmas night (Christmas night)
But it don't feel right
Cause you're not there
No it don't feel right
Cause you're not there

No drip dropping from my ceiling
No slugs in my bed
No more trips to see the colonel
The Chicken Man is dead
And though the seasons change
And you're so far away
I'll be thinking of you this Christmas Day
No more roommates - I'm on my own
Found myself a brand new home
Memories live within my mind
Of good times that I've left behind
And oh the seasons change
And you're so far away
I'll be thinking of you this Christmas Day
What have I done? Is it too late for me
To ask Kevin about Burnaby?
Cause all I want for Christmas under my tree
Is Austen, Josh, and Emily
And oh the seasons change
And I'm so far away
I'll be thinking of you this Christmas Day
Even when we're old and grey
Every year on Christmas Day
We'll think about the times that we had
Though we're apart
Deep in our hearts
We'll always be... the shack
And though the seasons change (though the seasons change)
And you're so far away (so far away)
I'll be thinking of you (I'll be thinking of ya)
I'll be missing you (I'll be missing you)
I'll be wishing for you this Christmas Day

'Twas the Night
03:17
|
|||
It was the night before Christmas
And all through the Shack
An aroma of chicken - a Kentucky fried snack
There were sweets and treats and drinks being poured
When then came a knock - but who could it be at the door?
Could it be zilf? A right jolly old ilf.
Who'd laugh and who'd chortle, in spite of herself
Or might it be Shreeve - a hand panning pan man?
Or Scribbley the Scribe, here to share with the band?
But alas! 'Twas none of them folk
For standing at the door - this was no joke
The man at the door on this chicken fried eve
Was none other than our dear friend Jimmie
He swayed as he stood, bearing presents galore
Yelling, "Merry Christmas bro! Got room for one more?"
He chucked off his shoes and lit up a cig
And the Shack nestled in for one... final... jig
Merry Christmas to you all
With love from the Shack
We hope your year is great
Let's bring the Chicken Man back
